“Significant Otherness” was a term coined by Donna J. Haraway in her Companion Species Manifesto. According to Haraway by looking at dogs as a species with whom we can consider partners in the crime of humanity, we can observe models of co-habitation and co-evolution.
Like her, I believe this interspecies relationship is unique, and I knew it was the only way I could get this queer love story across in West Texas. We’re all here sharing the land, and I felt only our dogs could deliver our far cry for survival and visibility.

Using mold-resistant drywall and lumber, this site-specific installation unfolds akin to a vast dream-like landscape. Each panel is seven by four feet and chronicles a part of the relationship we shared. With this "green rock" as a substrate, most of the drawing and painting were done subtly in order to hide in plain sight.
