The Joint Compound Carvings are a body of works culminating from experiences that dealt with construction labor and materials, relief print-making, and most of all mortality. To work with something that has an expected in a way which is unexpected reveals to us what potential is inherent in the material. Similar to what a body is capable of the joint compound has an eventual expiration, when settled it doesn't want to move until forces either by man or nature eventually peel it away. Joint Compound, normally applied in thin layers to conjoin segments of Dry-wall, is not meant to be applied in this way which is why the exploration is necessary. Bringing elements of beauty outside of it's supporting role in construction the body of work seeks to interrogate traditional narratives that continue to restrict how we consider the natural world.
